TELL ME WHAT QUINCY MADE IT MEANS EXACTLY?

“Quincy Made It is the answer collectors give when they’re being asked about a specific piece of art in the room or an item of clothing they’re wearing.”

“EXPRESSING MYSELF AND MY IDEAS THAT COME TO MIND THROUGH ART HELPS ME RELAX MY MIND AND FEEL A SENSE OF PLEASURE KNOWING IM GIVING OTHERS A SPACE TO OPEN THEIR MIND WITH THE ART I’VE CREATED.”

Quincy’s the type of person you meet and never forget because of the impact he has on your whole thought process. He’ll have you questioning everything you thought you knew, not in a David Ike kind of way but in a ‘the possibilities are endless’ type of way.

Our first ever phone conversation to discuss the details of the meeting lasted over an hour due to the simple fact that his mind is filled with a variety of juxtaposing views and experiences from his daily encounters with people from all different walks of life. From this one phone call alone, I knew this interview would be insightful.

What I find so interesting is that creatives generally share the same ability in connecting the dots. In my opinion, that’s what art and design is really about, it’s one big spider diagram of interlinking points. To me, Quincy is the spider in the middle, he’s the type of artist where everything in life interlinks back to him.

This conclusion came after his explanation on his journey to obtaining ‘The Box’, which is literally a standard British, currant red, telephone box he works out of and uses as his art studio.

I sat at the box as the day turned to night and I couldn’t believe how many people walked by that stopped to say hello to Quincy and have a meaningful conversation with him. The type of conversations opening up and delving into their lives “how’s the day going for you?” “where you coming from”. None of the pretentious surface level conversations we see all too often.

A few people stopped and bought some of his paintings, and again, besides the art being as good as it is, you can tell the customers really wanted to buy art from him simply because of who he is.

I literally sat there and watched a middle aged woman come and enquire about his work and then paid him to have her name spray painted down the front of her crisp, white jeans. How often do you see that in life?

I left Quincy feeling more than inspired, and ultimately the message of Quincy Made It can never be out into a series of questions and answers, he is the epitome of going back to deep and meaningful human interactions with strangers, and making a difference within the community, igniting ideas and make people smile.

“THE FINAL DESTINATION FOR ME WILL ALWAYS BE A POSITIVE MINDSET WHEREVER I AM IN LIFE.”
